Opening in theaters today, AMERICAN REUNION is the fourth big-screen installment in the popular franchise started with AMERICAN PIE in 1999 (there were also four direct-to-dvd episodes). This time around, the entire original cast was reassembled to celebrate the 10 year high school reunion of the gang from the first film. Co-written and directed by JOHN HURWITZ and HAYDEN SCHLOSSBERG, the cast reunites such favorites as JASON BIGGS, ALYSON HANNIGAN, SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT, EDDIE KAYE THOMAS, JENNIFER COOLIDGE, MENA SUVARI and EUGENE LEVY. Loud and proud in its depiction of raunchy humor, the “AMERICAN” franchise is as much a guilty pleasure for its cast as it is for fans. We sat down with SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT a couple of weeks ago and he admitted he’d sign on for another installment if they asked him. Delightfully cast with the likes of GRETA GERWIG, CARRIE MacLEMORE, MEGALYN ECHIKUNWOKE, RYAN METCALF and ADAM BRODY, the movie seems destined to be come a cult favorite.GERWIG will next be seen on the big screen in the new WOODY ALLEN comedy TO ROME WITH LOVE, in which she stars with ELLEN PAGE, JESSE EISENBERG, ALISON PILL, PENELOPE CRUZ and ALEC BALDWIN.
Much like MIRA SORVINO was cast in ALLEN’S 1995 comedy MIGHTY APHRODITE after he’d seen her in STILLMAN’S film, BARCELONA, GERWIG and STILLMAN tell us that ALLEN requested footage of her DAMSELS IN DISTRESS performance before giving her the role in TO ROME WITH LOVE. Currently enjoying new popularity as a 3D conversion, JAMES CAMERON’S historical epic TITANIC is thrilling audiences 15 years after its original theatrical release. Directed with slavish attention to detail by CAMERON, the film shined a worldwide spotlight on stars LEONARDO DiCAPRIO and KATE WINSLET as doomed star-crossed lovers.
Already the recipient of his first Oscar nomination, DiCAPRIO had consciously eschewed epic blockbusters so it came as a surprise when he signed on to CAMERON’S massive retelling of the world’s most famous shipwreck.
We spoke with DiCAPRIO for the film’s original 1997 release and he talked about his decision to get on board. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

In theaters soon, screenwriter WILL FETTERS’ big-screen adaptation of NICHOLAS SPARKS’ bestselling novel THE LUCKY ONE, stars ZAC EFRON and TRACY SCHILLING as star-crossed lovers. It’s not FETTERS’ first time at the romantic rodeo: he wrote the 2010 tear-jerker REMEMBER ME and just turned in his script (to director CLINT EASTWOOD) for the planned remake of the classic show biz love story A STAR IS BORN. Trying to rewrite one of the most iconic stories in romantic film history may sound like a crazy idea but, during our recent interview, FETTERS admitted that, in the movie biz, sometimes you have to give a little to take a little. Currently in theaters, TITANIC 3D is bringing new life to JAMES CAMERON’S 1997 epic disaster movie that put a romantic slant on what will always be considered the world’s greatest shipwreck. A labor of love for CAMERON, the film featured a cast that includes KATE WINSLET, LEONARDO DiCAPRIO, BILLY ZANE, FRANCIS FISHER, KATHY BATES and GLORIA STUART.Before TITANIC became the highest grossing movie of all time and went on to win 11 Academy Awards (including Best Picture), there were a lot of people who thought/hoped the film would fail. We spoke with BILLY ZANE in December of ‘97 and he opined that the film’s budget alone made it a ‘wet dream’ for headline writers. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Shonda Rhimes Abandons The Stethoscopes For ‘Scandal’
By · Comments
Premiering tonight on ABC, SCANDAL is the latest dramatic entry from SHONDA RHIMES, the creator of such popular television staples as PRIVATE PRACTICE and GREY’S ANATOMY. Centered on a professional “fixer” who (along with her highly skilled crew) handle crises-control situations before they hit the front page, the series is set in Washington, DC and is more focused on politics than being law-centric. A thoroughly enjoyable night-time soap opera, the show’s cast includes KERRY WASHINGTON, HENRY IAN CUSACK, TONY GOLDWYN, KATIE LOWES, JOSHUA MALINA and JEFF PERRY.A departure from the comfort zone of her usual medical dramas, SCANDAL is a nice change of pace for RHIMES. At the Television Critics Association press conference to promote the new show, she addressed questions about taking on something different. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

FERGUSON and RILEY THOMAS STEWART.Probably still best known for his roles in the popular HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL franchise, EFRON has made a concerted effort to take on roles that would challenge his abilities and give him some distance from his song-and-dance past. Scheduled to hit theaters later this year, TED is the feature film directorial debut of FAMILY GUY creator SETH MacFARLANE and tells the off-beat story of a seemingly normal man whose childhoood wish that his beloved teddy bear would come to life actually comes true. Written by MacFARLANE (who additionally provides the voice of the titular bear), the film also stars MARK WAHLBERG, MILA KUNIS, GIOVANNI RIBISI, JESSICA STROUP and ALEX BORSTEIN.Judging from the trailer just released this week, TED promises to be every bit as off-beat (and off-color) as what fans have come to expect from the quirky MacFARLANE but may come as a surprise to fans of WAHLBERG. At the last press conference to promote WAHLBERG’S hit series ENTOURAGE, he admitted it was a pretty far-out concept. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Opening in theaters today, TITANIC 3D is the updated rerelease of JAMES CAMERON’S 1997 blockbuster that held the box office record as highest-grossing film of all time until his own AVATAR took top honors in 2010. Said to cost upwards of $18 million and take 60 weeks to accomplish, the conversion’s release coincides with the 100th anniversary of actual sinking of the Titanic. We sat down to an exclusive interview with CAMERON in December of ‘97 and talked about all the controversy surrounding the film’s extensive shooting schedule. Much was made in the press about the filmmaker’s obsession with “attention to detail” but he told us that the “obsession” belonged to everyone involved. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
It might seem hard to believe now but, prior to TITANIC’S release, there were nay-sayers who thought the film would tank. We asked CAMERON if, after all was said and done, it was all worth it. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
