WILL JAMES CAMERON BE KING OF THE GAMING WORLD?
Posted by: | CommentsThe E3 Expo is happening in Los Angeles this week and director James “I don’t go back” Cameron was on hand to talk about the new video game based on his AVATAR film.
IGN scored an exclusive interview with the man after his presentation. He talked at length about the development process of the game with Ubisoft as well as a little bit about the film due out in theaters this December.
Conan O’Brien NBC’s Tonight Show Premiere
Posted by: | CommentsDespite some shaky reviews, Conan O’Brien’s return to late night was pretty fabulous. When it comes to television, what matters most are the ratings and Conan rocked them. So haters…STFU!
Last night’s ratings for the “Tonight Show” for a Monday episode were the HIGHEST they have been in four years.
According to official figures, Conan posted a number 82% higher than the “Tonight” second quarter average and 173% above his February “Late Night” finale. In other words, he freakin’ rocked the hizouse.
So what did YOU think of Conan’s first Tonight Show appearance?

WILL SEQUEL BE ‘HEATHERS: THE NEXT GENERATION’?
Posted by: | Comments
How very”…encouraging. After months of speculation, Winona Ryder said in an interview appearing in the July issue of Empire that a sequel to the 1988 cult film is in the works. “I swear to God,” she said. “But for some reason Dan [Waters, writer] and Michael [Lehmann, director] don’t want to talk about it.” Maybe you shouldn’t be talking about it then, lady! Oh, but she went on. “There is a story, and Christian [Slater] has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character.”
This just got good. When I first heard rumors of a “new Heathers,” I imagined a pointless remake along the lines of Footloose or the recently announced Girls Just Want To Have Fun. But a sequel? I love Heathers more than I love BBQ Corn Nuts, but how exactly might a Heathers sequel work? If J.D. has become an Obi-Wan type, will Shannen Doherty play a droid who manages a vintage shop specializing in late-’80s fashion hats? Will the teen queens abandon croquet for Wii Croquet?
Spencer Pratt’s ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here’ (Video)
Posted by: | CommentsGeez, I can’t keep track of these two attention ho bags…either you’re in or you’re out. Which is it? Who knows really if Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will be in the jungle for long, but whatever the case may be, we’ll have this lovely little video to remember this experience ten years from now. Although, we are sure as heck hoping that we won’t remember who these two are in ten years.
So Spencer Pratt debuted his new song last week called “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here” and now, well a video was debuted today. And, of course, his “wife” Heidi made a cameo. Despite the song being THE theme song for their reality show casting, the video primarily focuses on them. And why wouldn’t it?
According to a source, both Spencer and Heidi reportedly walked out of the filming location of the show, Costa Rican jungle, twice. What do you think of Spencer’s video?

SPIELBERG SETTLES FOR SECOND FIDDLE AS BEATLES ROCK MICROSOFT EVENT
Posted by: | CommentsE3 hasn’t even officially started yet, but some of Hollywood’s biggest names turned up at pre-show news conferences Monday to show off the video game industry’s newest technologies and titles:
- Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the two surviving Beatles, took the stage briefly at Microsoft’s news conference in the morning to (very) briefly tout MTV’s new version of its Rock Band music game that focuses entirely on the iconic band. The L.A. Times tech blog has a full report on their appearance.
- Later on at the event it was Steven Spielberg’s turn to surprise the crowd. But the A-list director wasn’t there to talk about any games in which he’s involved. He dropped by to plug Project Natal, Microsoft’s new peripheral for the Xbox 360 that lets players control games by moving in front of a camera and using their voice. “I felt like this was as significant as the transformation from square-shaped movie screens to CinemaScope and then Imax,” he said of his first glimpse at the technology. Get all the details on Project Natal and the rest of Microsoft’s plans to expand the Xbox 360’s audience without losing its hard-core fans in the story from today’s Times.
- James Cameron played a more traditional role at publisher Ubisoft’s news conference, where he talked about the upcoming video game based on his movie “Avatar.” It will be the first video game produced in stereoscopic 3-D, mimicking the technology used in the film (though only a tiny percentage of people have TVs that support 3-D images). “When entertainment succeeds in today’s market, it does it by combining games, films, books, toys … where you can visit the world and characters in different ways,” Cameron said, according to video game news site Gamasutra.
There were also a few new games unveiled based on Hollywood properties. Ubisoft announced that it would be making a game based on Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s upcoming film adaptation of “Tintin.” And Warner Bros. confirmed longstanding rumors that it will apply the Lego video game formula that has proved so successful with Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman to Harry Potter. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 comes out next year and will be produced by Traveller’s Tales, the game development studio Warner bought in 2007 for about $200 million.
