Brad Pitt Dons Producer Hat For Message Mob Movie ‘Killing Them Softly’
Posted by: | CommentsEnjoying its world premiere earlier this week at the Cannes Film Festival, KILLING THEM SOFTLY is a stylishly rendered vision of what’s wrong with this country (and the capitalist system) masquerading as a gangster movie. Based on GEORGE V. HIGGINS’ pulpy 1974 novel COGAN’S TRADE, the film is directed by ANDREW DOMINIK (who co-wrote the screenplay with HIGGINS) and stars BRAD PITT (who also served as one of the film’s producers), SCOOT McNAIRY, BEN MENDELSOHN, JAMES GANDOLFINI, RICHARD JENKINS, RAY LIOTTA and SAM SHEPARD.

Clive Owen Brings Ernest Hemingway To Life In New HBO Film
Posted by: | CommentsActor CLIVE OWEN recently met with entertainment press to talk about upcoming projects, not the least of which is HEMINGWAY AND GELLHORN, an HBO film about the romance, marriage and divorce of author ERNEST HEMINGWAY and celebrated Spanish Civil War correspondent MARTHA GELLHORN. Directed by PHILIP KAUFMAN from a script by JERRY STAHL and BARBARA TURNER, the film also stars NICOLE KIDMAN, ROBERT DUVALL, PARKER POSEY, TONY SHALOUB, DAVID STRATHAIRN, BROOKE ADAMS, PETER COYOTE and DIANE BAKER.

‘Action Star Of The Year’ Dwayne Johnson Admits Award Is Cool

JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA and features some personnel additions in the form of DWAYNE JOHNSON and BRUCE WILLIS. This time around, the G.I. Joes continue to be pitted against their mortal enemy COBRA while, at the same time, contend with threats from within the government.
Recently named “Action Star Of The Year” at CineCon by The National Association Of Theater Owners (NATO), JOHNSON faced entertainment reporters asking if working with WILLIS constituted a “passing of the torch” from a former Action Star Award winner to the present one. ‘MIB3′ Star Will Smith Admits Time Travel Has Pros And Cons
Posted by: | CommentsIn theaters this week, MEN IN BLACK 3 is a time travel adventure that has special agent J backtracking to the 1960s to keep his pal, special agent K, from being assassinated and changing the course of history. The film reunites WILL SMITH, TOMMY LEE JONES and director BARRY SONNENFELD as well as introducing JOSH BROLIN as a younger version of JONES’ character.

New To Blu: Action Meets Romance In ‘This Means War’

Naturally, given their government positions, sabotage and subterfuge take the place of candy and flowers in the search for true romance. Directed by McG from a screenplay by TIMOTHY DOWLING and SIMON KINBERG, the principal cast consists of REESE WITHERSPOON, CHRIS PINE and TOM HARDY, with support from CHELSEA HANDLER, LAURA VANDERVORT, ABIGAIL SPENCER, ANGELA BASSETT and DAVE KOECHNER. In Filming Comedy, ‘Dictator’ Director Larry Charles Has His Own Chaos Theory
Posted by: | CommentsCurrently in theaters (but proving to be a pretty hard sell), THE DICTATOR is a wacky comedy starring SACHA BARON COHEN (who co-wrote the script with ALEC BERG, DAVID MANDEL and JEFF SCHAFFER) in dual roles as a foreign despot dedicated to keeping democracy far away from the country he lovingly oppresses and the poor schlub hired to impersonate him. Directed by LARRY CHARLES, the cast also includes MEGAN FOX, ANNA FARIS, BEN KINGSLEY, JOHN C. REILLY, B.J. NOVAK and KEVIN CORRIGAN

Wes Anderson Scores With ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ At Cannes Film Fest
Posted by: | CommentsMaking its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival a few days ago, MOONRISE KINGDOM is a delightful coming-of-age story set in a 1960’s New England town where a young boy and girl attempt to run away together and spark a community-wide mobilization to track them down. Co-written (with ROMAN COPPOLA) and directed by WES ANDERSON, the all-star ensemble cast includes EDWARD NORTON, BRUCE WILLIS, BILL MURRAY, TILDA SWINTON, HARVEY KEITEL, FRANCES McDORMAND, JASON SCHWARTZMAN and BOB BALABAN as well as newcomers JARED GILMAN and KARA HAYWARD.

‘Battleship’ Director Peter Berg Looking Forward To Memorial Day
Posted by: | CommentsCurrently in theaters and doing well internationally, BATTLESHIP is an apocalyptic tale of space aliens trying to destroy the Earth. Somehow inspired by the Milton-Bradley board game from the ’30s, the film exists primarily to blow stuff up on an epic scale.
Directed by PETER BERG from a script by brothers ERICH and JON HOEBER, the cast of this epic CGI-fest are LIAM NEESON, TAYLOR KITSCH, ALEXANDER SKARSGARD, RIHANNA and BROOKLYN DECKER.

Third Time’s The Charm For ‘Madagascar 3′ Star Ben Stiller

This time around, they connive their way into a traveling European circus in the hope that it will provide transport back to the Big Apple. Directed by ERIC DARNELL, CONRAD VERNON and TOM McGRATH from a script by NOAH BAUMBACH, the familiar voice cast includes BEN STILLER, CHRIS ROCK, DAVID SCHWIMMER and JADA PINKETT SMITH.

Shia LeBeouf Joins A Community Of Outlaws In ‘Lawless’

A period piece set in Depression-era rural Virginia, the film focuses on three brothers trying to steer clear of the law while working to make a success of the family bootlegging business. Directed by JOHN HILLCOAT from a script by NICK CAVE, the cast includes TOM HARDY, JESSICA CHASTAIN, SHIA LeBEOUF and GARY OLDMAN.
