Scheduled to hit theaters later this year, TED is the feature film directorial debut of FAMILY GUY creator SETH MacFARLANE and tells the off-beat story of a seemingly normal man whose childhoood wish that his beloved teddy bear would come to life actually comes true. Written by MacFARLANE (who additionally provides the voice of the titular bear), the film also stars MARK WAHLBERG, MILA KUNIS, GIOVANNI RIBISI, JESSICA STROUP and ALEX BORSTEIN.

Judging from the trailer just released this week, TED promises to be every bit as off-beat (and off-color) as what fans have come to expect from the quirky MacFARLANE but may come as a surprise to fans of WAHLBERG. Opening in theaters today, TITANIC 3D is the updated rerelease of JAMES CAMERON’S 1997 blockbuster that held the box office record as highest-grossing film of all time until his own AVATAR took top honors in 2010. Said to cost upwards of $18 million and take 60 weeks to accomplish, the conversion’s release coincides with the 100th anniversary of actual sinking of the Titanic.

We sat down to an exclusive interview with CAMERON in December of ‘97 and talked about all the controversy surrounding the film’s extensive shooting schedule. Now available on DVD and Blu-ray, WE BOUGHT A ZOO tells of a recently widowed dad who moves his family into a house situated in the middle of a dilapidated wildlife refuge which they work to restore. Adapted from the popular memoir by BENJAMIN MEE and directed by CAMERON CROWE, the film stars MATT DAMON, THOMAS HAYDEN CHURCH, SCARLETT JOHANSSON, PATRICK FUGIT, ELLE FANNING and CARLA GALLO.

ROCK OF AGES opens in theaters 6/15

Currently in theaters (and holding the No. 2 slot behind THE HUNGER GAMES on the box office chart), WRATH OF THE TITANS is the sequel to the 2010 sword-and-sandal epic CLASH OF THE TITANS. As before, the story draws heavily from the Greek myths but, this time around, a father-son family dynamic has been added in the hopes of appeasing critics who complained of the lack of depth in the first film. Directed by JONATHAN LIEBESMAN, the cast includes SAM WORTHINGTON, LIAM NEESON, RALPH FIENNES, ROSAMUND PIKE, BILL NIGHY, DANNY HUSTON and LILY JAMES.

WRATH OF THE TITANS is in theaters now

Opening in theaters tomorrow, TITANIC 3D promises to give new life to the romantic drama that captured the hearts of moviegoers everywhere and was considered the biggest blockbuster of all time. Directed with obsessive detail by JAMES CAMERON, the film made household names of LEONARDO DiCAPRIO and KATE WINSLET as the star-crossed lovers doomed by circumstance to be apart for eternity.

Already the recipient of his first Oscar nomination (WHAT’S EATING GILBERT GRAPE?), DiCAPRIO wasn’t known for his interest in epic blockbusters and concentrated more on small, intimate performances in films such as THE BASKETBALL DIARIES and MARVIN’S ROOM. So, it came as a surprise when he signed on to CAMERON’S massive retelling of the world’s most famous shipwreck.

One of the world’s greatest filmmakers, SPIELBERG was amazed to observe how much emotion his equine stars were able to convey to the cameras and, during a recent press conference, he talked about how his team of “horse whisperers” aided in getting the desired performances. In theaters this week, AMERICAN REUNION is the fourth big-screen installment in the popular franchise that started with AMERICAN PIE in 1999. This time around, the story sees the entire original cast reassembled to celebrate their 10 year high school reunion. Probably best known for its over-the-top teen sex set pieces that began in the first movie with star JASON BIGGS having an “experience” with an apple pie, the “AMERICAN” franchise has always been on a quest to outdo itself. In REUNION, BIGGS lives up to his name by performing his first ever full-frontal display of flesh. AMERICAN REUNION opens in theaters Friday

Currently in limited release, INTRUDERS is an intense psychological thriller that tells of two children, living in different countries, who are pursued nightly by an ominous, featureless figure wanting to possess them. Directed by JUAN CARLOS FRESNADILLO, the cast includes CLIVE OWEN, CARICE VAN HOUTEN, DANIEL BRUHL, ELLA PURNELL and KERRY FOX.

Despite using tropes all too familiar to horror film fans, the stylish and atmospheric INTRUDERS manages to dig a little deeper and transcend being just another creature-feature. One of JAMES CAMERON’S most impressive accomplishments in bringing his epic blockbuster, TITANIC, to the screen was casting the lovely GLORIA STUART as the elder Rose, whose tortured on-board love affair with an unscrubbed Irish artist led to one of the silver screen’s greatest romances. 

California-born, STUART started her acting career in the early 1930s as a Universal contract player who was quickly cast in a series of low budget pictures. A protege of the iconic director JAMES WHALE, she is probably best remembered from that era for her role in his 1932 horror film THE OLD DARK HOUSE. During an interview we did with the actress in December of 1997, STUART talked about the similarities between WHALE and CAMERON. A closeted homosexual until he retired from filmmaking, WHALE and STUART dated briefly and she assures us that she never had an inkling that the director was gay until it was revealed years later. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
