Shocker: Lindsay Lohan denied bail thrown in jail
Posted by: | Comments
Judge Eldon Fox, obviously has run out of patience for Lindsay Lohan.
The jurist ordered Lohan to go directly to jail with no bail pending an Oct. 22 hearing.
Lindsay was led away in handcuffs after the hearing.
The terms of her probation provided that if she missed a drug test or got a positive result, she could face 30 days in jail.
Lohan was ordered back to court after failing a drug test last week,.
This was only a month after being released from jail for violating her parole in a drunk driving case.
In 2008 Lohan was arrested twice over a three-month period for driving under the influence. She pleaded no contest and agreed to attend alcohol education classes.
But alleged parole violations placed her back in court before Superior Court Judge Marsha N. Revel in Beverly Hills. Before her sentencing in July, Lohan said, “I’m not taking this as a joke. It’s my life. It’s my career…. I take responsibility for my actions,” she told the court. “I’ve tried to do the best I can. It’s been such a long haul…. I don’t want you to think that I don’t respect you.”
Revel responded that Lohan was lying about her role in two drunk driving-related incidents, failing to attend alcohol education classes and other violations. Revel also notes that when a white substance was found in Lohan’s pants and Lohan tested positive for the drug. Lindsay had claimed the pants belonged to someone else. They turned out to be “her favorite pants.”

Lisa Murkowski Write-In Campaign Misspells Her Name
Posted by: | CommentsAmericans expect senate candidates at this critical time to know how to spell their names – – especially when they are write-in candidates.
Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski announced that she would
launch a write-in campaign to hold onto her seat after losing the
Republican primary. At the time she brought need for spelling in the write in process.
“You’ve got to learn how to spell my name, but that’s not as tough as
it sounds, and over the next 45 days we’ll be teaching you how to spell
it,” Murkowski said, drawing a smattering of laughter from the crowd of
supporters in Anchorage.
But her first ad misspelled the URL of her Web site.
The online ad that was posted on YouTube on Monday was originally
titled, “Vote Lisa M-U-R-K-O-W-S-K-I Public Service Announcement,” but
the URL that flashed on the bottom of the screen at the end of the ad
directed viewers to visit LisaMurkwski.com. Read more…
Piers Morgan Fawns Over Obama
Posted by: | CommentsNow we know the Piers Morgan really intends to carry the Larry King tradition forward.
British tabloid veteran Piers
Morgan — says one of the people he’d like to talk with is President
Obama. In an exclusive morning TV interview, Morgan wouldn’t tell “Early Show” special contributor Amanda Holden
who his first guest will be, but he did share a short list of people
he’d like to get in front of the cameras — and Mr. Obama’s on the list.“I’d love to (interview) President Obama,” said Morgan. “I like what
he’s done for the reputation of America abroad, which I’m not sure many
Americans fully understand. But he has restored the reputation of
America, in my view, hugely.”
Despite Hollywood Assist, Barbara Boxer Predicted to Fall
Posted by: | CommentsAfter being in office for 28 years, Barbara Boxer’s
world is likely going to get rocked, despite a Hollywood producer
railing against her opponent, Carly Fiorina.
Prognosticators are predicting that California’s current senator may be
unseated in the upcoming November elections by the former
Hewlett-Packard CEO Fiorina.
While folks are focused on the No. 1 issue, that being the economy, the
nearly bankrupt Golden State stands as a poster child for the ugly
consequences of unchecked Democratic spending.
The Boxer campaign is attempting to take a bite out of Fiorina’s
popularity by claiming that she laid off workers during her tenure at
HP. Instead the attacks are serving to underscore the fact that Fiorina
has not been a professional politician and has genuine experience in the
business world.
Another approach, which incidentally has been given an assist by
Hollywood producer Robert Greenwald, has been to characterize Fiorina’s
social views as out of the mainstream.
The GOP candidate is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage and pro-Second Amendment.
Interestingly, the attacks aren’t working. That’s because voters mainly
want to hear about the specific plans candidates have to fix the ailing
economy.

Sean Penn Slams Haitian Presidential Candidate Wyclef Jean
Posted by: | Comments
Celebrities are increasingly wielding their fame to influence politics.
Wyclef Jean, an internationally known hip-hop
artist and sometime partner of Shakira, is now also the front-runner in
Haiti’s upcoming presidential election.
Born in Haiti and raised in Brooklyn, the former
Fugees frontman has risen to become one of the most famous names in his
native country and has put forth a detailed plan to rebuild the Haitian
economy.
Surprisingly, Jean is getting a bit of criticism
from, of all places, Hollywood. It arrived courtesy of Sean Penn – the
same Penn who typically has words of praise for Venezuelan despot Hugo
Chavez.
Penn accused Jean of not spending enough time in
Haiti after the earthquake and of misappropriating hundreds of thousands
of dollars from Jean’s charity, Yele Haiti.
Speaking on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” Penn said he
suspects that Jean may be backed by corporate interests and
opportunists who want to take advantage of his celebrity. The actor
acknowledged he does not know Jean.
“What the Haitian people need now is a leader who
is genuinely willing to sacrifice,” Penn said. “And one of the reasons I
don’t know very much about Wyclef Jean is I haven’t seen or heard
anything of him in these last six months that I’ve been in Haiti.”
Penn recommended that Jean’s donors receive very
close scrutiny, because “this is somebody who is going to receive an
enormous amount of his support, if he continues his campaign, from the
United States.”
Penn also noted that the country has a history of
American interests “coming in and underpaying people – this is a
culture of one to two dollars a day that they were making.”
Appearing on CBS’ “The Early Show,” Jean defended
himself, saying, “I just want Sean Penn to fully understand I am a
Haitian, born in Haiti and I’ve been coming to my country ever since [I
was] a child.”
The singer added, “He might just want to pick up the phone and meet, so he fully understands the man.”
“I have to take what I used to sing about – poverty, hunger, AIDS – and turn it into policy,” Jean said.
Penn didn’t say anything about an item that
appeared on the Smoking Gun website. According to documents posted on
the site, Jean owes more than $2.1 million in back taxes for 2006, 2007,
and 2008. Sounds like a perfect nominee for an Obama Cabinet post.
Hip-hop stars are apparently paid extremely well.
To his credit, Jean promises to pay back the money he owes and put an accounting of his finances online.
Now that’s way over the line.
‘The Expendables’ is Tongue and Cheeky Fun
Posted by: | CommentsThese day the news can be really depressing. The economy is getting
kicked around and our quality of life seems like it’s going in the tank.
Times for a good escapist movie.
Just our luck! A throwback flick arrives this week, and it captures the
excitement of the 1980s action movies. It’s called “The Expendables,” a
film co-written and directed by Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone.
Stallone has been able to gather together a group of action movie
veterans to join him in the tribute to the genre. The cast includes
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and
Jet Li, as well as some additional action-flick leads like Jason
Statham, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and Steve Austin.
Stallone recently had some choice comments about his fellow actors. “I
thought we had the ugliest group of guys on the planet in one movie…” READ MORE

Joni Mitchell Calls Bob Dylan a ‘Fake’
Posted by: | Comments
Joni Mitchell has a couple of things in common with Bob Dylan.
Both are folk rock icons. Both, too, have stage names. Mitchell used to be known as Roberta Joan Anderson, while Dylan’s given name was Robert Zimmerman.
Interestingly, Joni was being interviewed by the Los Angeles Times when the name change comparison was brought up. She responded by labeling Dylan a “fake” and a “plagiarist.”
“Bob is not authentic at all,” Mitchell said. “He’s a plagiarist, and his name and voice are fake. Everything about Bob is a deception.”
She insists that she is nothing like the minstrel of Malibu. “We are like night and day, he and I,” Joni said.
She chalked up the difference between her original surname and the stage version to her marriage.
“As for my name, my parents wanted a boy, so they called me Robert John; when I came out a girl, they just added two letter ‘A’s to that. Then I married Chuck Mitchell; I wanted to keep my maiden name – I had a bit of a following as Joni Anderson – but he wouldn’t let me,” Mitchell said.
Wasn’t there another famous person whose original name was Barry Soetoro?
